DheyaTech raises 43 crore rupees to scale up small gas turbine engine production

DheyaTech, a company specializing in aerospace propulsion technology and deep technologies, has raised 43 crore rupees in a funding round led by Avaana Capital. These funds will enable the company to expand production, establish a comprehensive testing center, and accelerate the implementation of its propulsion and energy technologies.

Founded in 2018 by aerospace engineers with experience at global companies such as GE Aviation and Rolls-Royce, the Bengaluru-based company has been developing small gas turbine engine technologies in India for nearly a decade. The company is now transitioning from the technology development stage to production readiness, planning flight tests for the engines in the fourth quarter of 2026 and holding confirmed orders from Indian and international Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

Gurushankar K S, CEO and co-founder of DheyaTech, stated that the new capital will be used to increase production capacity, create a fully integrated testing complex for gas turbine engines, and strengthen ties with domestic and international clients to speed up deployment timelines.

He specified that DheyaTech develops a family of small gas turbine engines with thrust ranging from 20 kgf to 400 kgf for use in various advanced aerial platforms, distributed power generation systems, and next-generation energy systems. Furthermore, the company plans to enhance its testing capabilities and collaborate closely with customers to apply its technology in real-world conditions.

The development of small gas turbine engines is a complex challenge in aerospace engineering, requiring expertise in turbomachinery design, combustion, materials, precision machining, engine control, and testing. Although only a small number of countries possess indigenous capabilities for designing and manufacturing such engines, India has traditionally relied heavily on imported technologies in this segment.

DheyaTech aims to build these capabilities domestically using a full-stack engineering model, where the internal team is responsible for the entire product lifecycle—from design and development to assembly and testing. The company has developed a patented adaptive Engine Control Unit (ECU), providing it with in-house competence in the electronic control system of gas turbine installations.

In partnership with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, DheyaTech has also created a hydrogen combined fuel cell apparatus for its 60 kW combined turbogenerator. The company promotes hydrogen mobility and energy generation technologies, including an ATEX-certified hydrogen blower—an internationally recognized certification for equipment intended for use in explosive atmospheres.

Vikas Verma, a partner at Avaana Capital, noted that the next generation of Indian deep-tech companies will not merely adapt foreign developments but will create globally significant platforms from scratch. He added that DheyaTech embodies this shift by creating differentiated, strategically critical technologies for India.

Concurrently, DheyaTech is pursuing independent airworthiness certification for its gas turbine engines under the guidance of the Centre for Aeronautical Military Airworthiness and Certification (CEMILAC) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The company stated that it is the first private company in India to undergo the independent airworthiness certification process for its gas turbine engines within the CEMILAC-DRDO framework. This certification process is a crucial step for application in critical aviation tasks, where propulsion units must meet stringent standards of reliability, performance, and safety.

In addition to Avaana Capital, Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing serves as a strategic manufacturing partner to DheyaTech, ensuring the high-precision manufacturing of gas turbine engine components and systems. Anil Kumar Putan, Chairman and Managing Director of Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing, stated that they will continue to support the company in its capabilities for high-precision manufacturing of gas turbine engine components and systems.
