Cabo Verde recorded inflation at 1.3% in August, indicating a downward trend. The year-on-year change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 0.8%, which is 0.3 percentage points lower than in the previous month.
The core inflation indicator (overall index excluding energy and unprocessed food) showed a year-on-year change of 0.8%, which is 0.1 percentage point lower than the level registered in July 2026.
The Bank of Cabo Verde (BCV) previously indicated in May that prices this year might rise above initial forecasts, raising the inflation estimate from 1.7% to 2.7%. The bank noted that the deterioration in prospects is linked to 'escalating geopolitical tensions,' including the conflict in the Middle East.
