The Inmet forecast points to a climatic change starting this Friday, the 18th, with the return of precipitation to Southern Brazil. The moisture channel is weakening, while a new atmospheric configuration facilitates the arrival of hot and humid air to the region.
On Thursday, the 17th, rain is still occurring in various areas of the North, Center-West, Southeast, and Northeast. In the South, the weather remains stable over most of the territory, but the situation will begin to change on Friday.
The arrival of a mass of hot and humid air raises the humidity level over the southern part of the country. Due to the drop in atmospheric pressure, the weather becomes more unstable, increasing the chance of rain in western Paraná, central, northern, and western Santa Catarina, and northwestern Rio Grande do Sul.
In these locations, Friday is expected to bring intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, with a yellow alert indicating potential risk of storms. Forecasts suggest that these rains will tend to intensify throughout the weekend.
On Thursday, most of the South region will have few clouds and stable weather. There is also a possibility of frost in the higher areas of the eastern states of the South.
Climatic situation in the North
In the North, Thursday will be characterized by many clouds and rain in different spots. Amazonas, Acre, and Rondônia may register showers with thunderstorms, and there is a yellow warning for potential danger of heavy rain in certain parts of these states.
For Friday, instabilities will mainly concentrate in Amazonas. Acre, Rondônia, and Roraima may still experience isolated rains.
Forecast for the Northeast and Center-West
In the Northeast, southern Bahia remains unstable this Thursday, as does the eastern coast, which also records rain. On Friday, there is a probability of rain in several federative units, including Bahia, Sergipe, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Piauí, and Maranhão.
Friday will bring changes to the Center-West. Instability will decrease in northern and northeastern Mato Grosso, but will increase in southern Mato Grosso and Goiás. In Mato Grosso do Sul, rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, with a yellow warning for potential storm risk.
Conditions in the Southeast
In the Southeast, Thursday will feature many clouds and rain between northeastern and eastern Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, and part of the São Paulo coast. On Friday, cloudiness will increase, and São Paulo will have rain with thunderstorms in the center and west of the state.
In the capital city of São Paulo, the temperature forecast for Friday ranges between 15°C and 22°C, following a Thursday with a minimum of 14°C and a maximum of 17°C.
This climatic variation occurs because the band of humidity that influenced several regions loses strength and fragments. Simultaneously, a current of hot and humid air advances towards the South, increasing the probability of rain in the region during the weekend.
