The American drone manufacturer Powers has reached an agreement with the Pakistani military, suggesting the potential start of American drone production in Pakistan. The company's co-founder, Brett Velikovich, stated that this agreement includes an initial order for drones. However, the details of the deal, including its cost and the number of drones, have not been disclosed, as Brett Velikovich declined to provide further information, citing security concerns. He specified that the agreement pertains to unmanned aerial vehicles that Powers manufactures for both air and sea use.
Furthermore, Powers plans to merge with Aureus Greenway Holdings soon. Both companies anticipate that this deal could be finalized in early October. Aureus Greenway Holdings holds stakes in the companies of former US President Donald Trump's sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. According to US documents, their shares are held through the investment fund American Ventures. Following the merger, this fund is expected to receive about 9.9% of the new entity's shares.
Representatives from Powers visited the Pakistani military. The Powers delegation, led by co-founder Brett Velikovich, met with the Army Chief General Field Marshal Sajjad Asim Munir. During this meeting, discussions covered procurement, production, and future joint cooperation in arms and other military equipment. Notably, the Pakistani military did not mention the agreement signed by Powers or the initial drone order in its statement.
Powers founder, Andrew Fox, noted that Pakistan's private defense sector is not yet fully developed, which presents significant opportunities for American corporations. The company is seeking ways to implement its technology in Pakistan and establish connections between the two countries' businesses.
Nevertheless, Powers emphasized that the contract being concluded has no connection to the Trump sons, asserting that they are not involved in the company's daily operations. A representative for Donald Trump Jr. also stated that he had no prior information regarding this deal with Pakistan. The White House also issued a statement noting the absence of any conflicts of interest in this matter.
