Applied Materials has announced its intention to invest $5 billion in India over the next decade. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to deepen research and development in semiconductors and integrate India more closely into the global chip supply chain.
The plan was presented at the SEMICON India 2026 event in New Delhi. Dr. Prabhu Raja, President of the Semiconductor Products Group at Applied Materials, stated that the company plans to establish a 140-acre advanced semiconductor technology research park.
Furthermore, the company intends to increase its manufacturing capacity in India tenfold and double its research and development workforce by 2035.
