Travel to Zambia from South Africa is becoming easier with the launch of a new direct route by FlySafair between Johannesburg and Lusaka.
The airline now operates five weekly flights between O.R. Tambo International Airport and Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Departures from O.R. Tambo are planned for 07:50, with arrival in Lusaka at 09:50. The return flight departs from Lusaka at 10:50 and lands in Johannesburg at 12:50.
FlySafair stated that this route was opened in response to sustained demand between the two cities. Kirby Gordon, Marketing Director at FlySafair, noted: 'Zambia has long been on our radar, and Lusaka is a route our customers have asked about.'
The new service also provides tourists with a more convenient starting point for exploring Zambia outside the capital. Lusaka offers access to places such as Victoria Falls and Livingstone, as well as the Lower Zambezi and South Luangwa National Parks.
Ticket prices from Johannesburg to Lusaka start from R2 800, and the return journey starts from R3 000. These fares do not include fuel surcharges and are subject to availability.
Flights are available for booking through FlySafair and operate five days a week. For travelers from South Africa, this means another direct option to reach Zambia without changing airports. The five weekly flights also give passengers greater flexibility when planning a trip to Lusaka or further travel within the country.
