Unstop acquires PerspectAI in all-cash deal to deepen AI-driven talent assessment

The hiring platform Unstop has completed the acquisition of talent assessment company PerspectAI through a share exchange, integrating PerspectAI's business, technology platform, intellectual property, data, personnel, clients, and revenue into Unstop's structure.

According to the company's statement, the deal is closed, and all PerspectAI employees, including its two founders, have joined Unstop. This acquisition provides Unstop with a technological layer designed to assess attributes that are difficult to capture using resumes, qualifications, or standard hiring methods.

PerspectAI utilizes a combination of Game Science, Data Science, and People Science to generate metrics related to employability, role fit, behavioral capabilities, and future potential. Among PerspectAI's corporate clients were Aditya Birla Capital, Tata Sons, Swiggy, and Motilal Oswal.

The financial value of this transaction was not disclosed. However, the company reported that PerspectAI was profitable in fiscal year '26, making this operation an acquisition of an operating business, rather than just a technology or human resources deal.

For Unstop, the strategic opportunity lies in deeper integration of assessment into its existing hiring ecosystem. The company noted that PerspectAI's tools will ultimately be available to campus recruiters, horizontal hiring teams, and large enterprises, while PerspectAI's clients will gain access to Unstop's broader engagement and talent acquisition products.

Ankit Aggarwal, founder and CEO of Unstop, emphasized that the attractive factor was the combination of a proven product and an experienced team of specialists. He stated: 'PerspectAI is not a bet on a roadmap. It is a product that is already trusted and paid for by large, demanding enterprises. This validation, along with the depth of the team's work in games, data, and people science, is why this acquisition makes sense for us.'

Jinesh Talasila, co-founder and CEO of PerspectAI, will lead Unstop's expansion into education and the public sector, while co-founder and CTO Suraj Vanka will join Unstop's product leadership team.

This deal comes amid growing employer interest in finding qualities beyond traditional documentation as artificial intelligence transforms required skills. In June, the IT sector in India saw a 16% year-on-year growth in AI-related hiring, despite an overall 3% decline in IT hiring. This shift reflects increased demand for specialized technical and AI capabilities, as well as a broader reassessment of how companies define talent.

Assessment technologies are also becoming more significant as employers face new forms of hiring fraud. Indian recruiters are increasingly using AI-based proctoring tools and other measures because generative AI allows for deception, impersonation, and the use of external assistance during assessments and interviews.

At the same time, technologies that assess candidates based on behavioral and cognitive data raise a separate issue regarding data governance. This makes the integration of PerspectAI into a much larger talent platform significant, going beyond simply adding another assessment product.

Talasila stated: 'Joining Unstop gives us the opportunity to bring what we built to a much wider audience and provides our team with a broader canvas for innovation.'
