Sleep deprivation or excess may accelerate biological aging

According to a large study conducted on data from nearly half a million adults aged 37 to 84, insufficient or excessive sleep may be linked to faster biological aging and an increased risk of death.

Researchers analyzed data from about 500,000 participants in the UK Biobank database and examined 23 different biological aging clocks. It was found that people sleeping less than six hours had a 50% higher risk of death from any cause.

Similarly, those who slept more than eight hours showed a 40% greater risk of death compared to the group that slept between six and eight hours.
