Tamanna Bhatia's family pandit noticed details of Chhath Puja in the film 'The One'

A two-minute and 44-second trailer for the film 'Don: Power of the Forest,' featuring Siddharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, has been released. The film is positioned as a blend of folklore, fantasy, horror, and religious motifs. The plot revolves around a mysterious forest, a forest goddess, and dark forces known as 'Bhuttaka.' The film is scheduled for release on September 25th in cinemas.

However, after watching the trailer, a question arises about the format of the picture: is it a large-budget feature film or an extended episode of a television series? The issue is not that the film was made under the aegis of Balaji Studio, but rather its visual design and the work done on special effects (VFX). Although there is action in some scenes, there is no reaction to it. Upon close examination, the VFX show animation flaws that diminish the atmosphere in the mysterious and frightening environment the film is supposed to create.

The main focus of the trailer is on Siddharth Malhotra. His character is portrayed as an atheist who plans a trip to Goa during a holiday associated with the Chhath festival but is forced to return to his village for work. There, he falls into the trap of a forbidden forest, a forest goddess, and strange forces. The narrative also hints at connections to past lives or reincarnation. Flashbacks shown featuring Siddharth suggest that some important secret is hidden in this forest from the past.

Nevertheless, despite changes in appearance, viewers do not feel significant changes in Siddharth's character. He looks more like a typical 'chocolate hero' than a mysterious figure. Moreover, the changed look of Sunil Grover attracts more attention. Tamanna's presence is also noticeable, but she is given few opportunities to speak. Despite the apparent importance of her role in the plot, Siddharth's dominance on screen causes Tamanna to remain in the shadows.

The most controversial aspect is the depiction of the Chhath festival. Chhath is a very important folk festival from Bihar and Purvanchal, involving both women and men in fasts and rituals. The creators tried to give this event scale, but in many places, it looks overly cinematic. While wearing a red sari itself is not a mistake, within the context of the Chhath festival, the color yellow holds a special spiritual and religious significance, as it symbolizes energy, radiance, and the life-giving rays of the Sun. However, presenting the entire crowd in a single glamorous style strips the festival of its true diversity.

An important aspect is also missed: Chhath is not just a women's festival; men also observe the fast, and the entire community participates in the celebration. This is the specialty of Chhath. The Government of Bihar and tourism sources call it a four-day community festival during which offerings are made to both the rising and setting sun.

Following films like 'Tumbbad,' 'Kantara,' and 'Brahmayugam,' expectations for folklore-based cinema have increased. It is interesting to see how director Panchayat, Dipak Kumar Mishra, decided to turn to the genre of folk-horror. Nevertheless, the trailer for 'The Vvaan' is remembered more for its weak visual effects and the feeling that it is a series, rather than for the plot itself. The mystery of the forest is intriguing, but the trailer does not convince that this secret will be as powerful on the big screen.

Of course, one cannot judge the quality of the entire film based solely on the trailer. However, it will be interesting to see what twists and unexpected events await the audience in the story itself, beyond the trailer. The film will be released in theaters on September 25th.

Tamannaah Bhatia shared her impressions of the song 'Chhati Maiya,' which is connected to the Chhath festival, during the trailer presentation of her film 'Vaan.' This track, reflecting elements of Bihar's culture and the Chhath Puja celebration, caused significant resonance on social media.

During the trailer launch event, Tamanna noted that the film is special for all viewers. She emphasized that bringing numerous folk tales from her country to the big screen requires great courage, clear vision, and a precise concept.

Speaking about Chhath, Tamanna mentioned seeing large crowds celebrating Chhath Puja at Juhu beach, but previously lacked deep knowledge about the traditions associated with this festival. She added that although she grew up in Mumbai and always observed crowds at Juhu beach, she didn't know much about the festival itself.

However, while shooting the corresponding scene, she learned about the strict fast observed during this ceremony: people abstain from water for 36 hours while worshipping the goddess.

Tamanna also shared her positive impressions of aspects of Bihar's culture. She observed that nowadays there is often talk of gratitude and manifestation (the feeling of wish fulfillment), which she believes is a beautiful part of Bihar's culture. She noted that while everyone reveres the rising sun, the setting sun is given equal importance and respect.

Recalling the process of shooting this scene, Tamanna recounted that she became emotional. She said, 'When I was shooting this scene, tears welled up in my eyes, and I don't know why. As an artist, we are like a medium, and I feel there is some higher power that makes us feel something special.'

Concluding her remarks, she expressed gratitude for participating in the creation of the song, believing that the purpose of films is to evoke feelings in the viewer. She added that in a few years, when she sees someone celebrating Chhath, this song will surely be in her memory.

The film 'Vaan' is the first collaboration between Siddharth and Tamannaah. The cast also includes Manish Paul, Shweta Tiwari, Sunil Grover, and Anup Soni. The film, directed by Dipak Kumar Mishra and produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, is scheduled for release in theaters on September 25.

Both believe that the connection with the audience contributed to such a positive reception of the movie. Malini said: 'There is a temple of Hanuman and Nima Karoli Baba. I always go there. And today I am very happy that they made a film about them. It became a hit. This is Hanuman's grace, I want to tell you. The woman who produced this film is an ordinary, simple girl. She doesn't even know what film production is. But thanks to her contribution, it turned out so good. Everyone wants to watch it. I want to see it too.'

Joining the growing list of celebrities supporting the film, Talpade noted that films are only successful when they touch people's hearts. He described 'Hanuman ANS' precisely as such a story. Speaking to the press, he emphasized that showing the film in theaters demonstrates an emotional connection with the audience.

He added: 'Stories must touch people's hearts, and only then can they achieve good commercial success. I believe that 'Hanuman ANS' is such a story that touched people's hearts. People feel a connection with it, which is why it is performing well at the box office. The film started earning in the third or fourth week. That in itself is a miracle.'

Commenting on the demand for a tax benefit for the film in Maharashtra, Talpade stated: 'I don't see anything wrong with this. If people like a film, and it is exempted from taxes, it will reach a larger number of viewers.'

This religious drama, which was released without much fanfare, quickly became popular due to word-of-mouth recommendations and growing public demand. The film earned over 170 crore rupees in India. Shobhinov Satya played Nima Karoli Baba, and Vikhan Shedge portrayed Maharaj on another stage of the story.
