The Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Akkulov, met with the management of Etihad Airways in the United Arab Emirates to discuss expanding interaction in the fields of tourism and aviation.
According to the Tourism Committee's statement, the parties discussed the need to increase tourist flow and promote Uzbekistan's tourism potential in global markets. Special attention was paid to daily direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Tashkent, which began operating on August 9, 2026.
It was noted that this new air connection opens up additional opportunities for developing business, humanitarian, and tourism ties between the two countries, as well as attracting visitors to Uzbekistan from countries in the Persian Gulf, Europe, North America, and Asia.
An important area of cooperation remains the code-sharing agreement between Etihad Airways and Uzbekistan Airways. Thanks to this agreement, Etihad Airways passengers can continue their journeys from Tashkent to cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Nukus, Termez, Fergana, Namangan, and Andijan. This allows international markets to promote not only the capital but also other significant tourist centers of Uzbekistan.
Following the meeting, the Tourism Committee and Etihad Airways signed an agreement on the implementation of a joint marketing program. This agreement provides for the joint promotion of Uzbekistan's tourism offerings and the Abu Dhabi–Tashkent route in the airline's key international markets, which strengthens the country's image and stimulates tourism demand.
Furthermore, the parties discussed creating a joint tourism product 'Abu Dhabi + Uzbekistan', utilizing Etihad Airways' international route network to attract tourists from third countries, as well as exchanging experience in the field of digital tourism products and loyalty programs. To implement the reached agreements, the parties agreed to continue cooperation at the working level.
