Uzbekistan and South Korea Discuss Pharmaceutical Investment Projects

The Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan reported that the country is studying South Korea's experience in developing the biopharmaceutical industry, including the introduction of advanced biotechnologies and the localization of modern production technologies.

On September 15, the Director of the Agency, Abdullo Azizov, met with the management of one of South Korea's leading biopharmaceutical companies. The parties discussed the potential for developing this industry in Uzbekistan, as well as opportunities for technological cooperation.

The meeting covered prospects for implementing joint projects for the production of biopharmaceutical products, adapting modern production technologies, and improving specialists' qualifications.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation in research and development, as well as the implementation of current biotechnological solutions. The company that held the meeting is located in Pangyo Techno Valley in South Korea and possesses modern research and production infrastructure, as well as advanced biotechnological capabilities.

An exhibition of high-tech pharmaceutical products from Uzbekistan was held in South Korea. The event was organized as part of efforts to develop trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries.

At the exhibition, Uzbek partners demonstrated the production capabilities, innovative developments, and potential investment opportunities offered by Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical industry.

Participants discussed modern medicines produced in Uzbekistan, as well as new technologies, prospects for localizing production, and opportunities for joint projects with Korean companies.

Parallel to the exhibition, the first Uzbekistan-Korea Interregional Forum launched. This platform is designed to strengthen direct ties between the regions of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, fostering new investment initiatives and expanding practical interaction.

The forum was attended by representatives of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, entrepreneurs from the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as delegations from Korean companies and organizations.

The Agency of Uzbekistan for the Development of Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry held an online meeting with representatives of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) to discuss strengthening the scientific and professional foundation of the pharmaceutical industry, according to the agency.

One of the central issues at the meeting was strengthening human resources and expanding professional experience exchange. Participants considered the possibility of sending Uzbek scientists and specialists to leading USP laboratories and other institutions.

The proposed format is designed to provide Uzbek specialists with practical experience and contribute to improving their qualifications. Special attention was paid to the potential involvement of USP experts in the laboratory and research infrastructure being established in Uzbekistan.

The parties also discussed programs for experience exchange and practical training involving USP specialists. Furthermore, participants considered the possibility of implementing advanced international approaches developed by USP when designing and equipping modern research centers and laboratories in Uzbekistan.

The goal of these discussions was to further enhance professional competencies, expand practical cooperation with international experts, and utilize USP's experience in building a modern research base for Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical industry.
