Caoa Changan has introduced the mid-size SUV CS55 to the Brazilian market, available in three configurations and two engine options: the 1.5 Turbo TGDI Flex version and the plug-in hybrid flex (PHEV). This launch marks the world debut of the Chinese manufacturer's plug-in hybrid flex technology and positions the model as the company's highest volume vehicle in the country.

Adopting a cost-benefit focused strategy, the brand offers a mid-size SUV with competitive prices, comparable to those of compact models.

Details of the 1.5 Turbo TGDI Flex Version

The 1.5 Turbo TGDI Flex engine in the Caoa Changan CS55 generates 180 horsepower and 29.2 kgfm of torque. In terms of performance, it can reach 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. Homologation data indicates a fuel consumption of 10.4 km/l using gasoline in the city and 12.1 km/l on the highway, equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Features of the Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) Configuration

In the plug-in hybrid configuration, the Caoa Changan CS55 combines the 1.5 Turbo Flex engine with an electric motor connected to the DHT transmission. This combination results in a total power of 286 hp and a torque of 47.0 kgfm. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds and has a declared total range of up to 1,200 km. Although the all-electric mode range has not been disclosed, the battery of this model has a capacity of 18.4 kWh.

Caoa Changan emphasized that during urban use, the CS55 PHEV is designed to operate exclusively in electric mode at speeds not exceeding 70 km/h.

Dimensions and Equipment of the CS55

In terms of dimensions, the Caoa Changan CS55 measures 4.55 meters in length, 1.86 meters in width, 1.67 meters in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.65 meters. The trunk space is 525 liters, which can reach 1,415 liters when the rear seat is folded down.

The vehicle structure features independent suspension on all four wheels, using MacPherson in the front and Multi-link in the rear. The braking system consists of discs on all four wheels. All versions of the model come equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels. The wheels on the Infinity and PHEV versions have a two-tone diamond finish, while the Prime version features a Gloss Black finish, and the tires used are Pirelli 225/55.
