Koei Tecmo announced on Wednesday, the 16th, the debut date for Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, the action RPG sequel developed by Team Ninja. The release is scheduled for March 4, 2027, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC platforms.
Along with the official date, the developer released a free Alpha version so players can test the new combat system. This trial version is already available for download on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, but its availability period ends on September 30.
One of the highlights announced is that Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will be part of the Xbox Game Pass catalog from the launch day, giving subscribers access to the full game on March 4. It is worth noting that the first title in the franchise, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, is already part of this service's catalog.
The sequel unfolds after the events of the first game, returning to the fantastic representation of the late Eastern Han dynasty, located in China. As in the previous one, humans and demonic beings compete on the battlefields. This time, the player will control an unnamed champion who must face both types of adversaries on their journey.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty was recognized for blending soulslike characteristics with a fighting system inspired by Chinese martial arts, following a similar line adopted by Team Ninja in the Nioh series. For the new installment, the studio plans to enhance this feature.
According to the description provided by Xbox, Wo Long 2 will feature a refined style of Chinese martial arts, integrating both offensive and defensive movements during confrontations. The Alpha demo, released this Wednesday, provides the first chance to evaluate these modifications, being available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Although the full game will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2, this platform was not included in this testing phase.
It is important to note that the Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember Alpha demo will be accessible between September 16 and September 30, 2026, offering about two weeks for interested parties to experience the new Team Ninja title before the March launch. Koei Tecmo has not yet confirmed the existence of other demos or testing periods before the release date.
Additionally, Koei Tecmo revealed a Digital Deluxe Edition. This package includes the base game, a season pass, the Creator God armor set, a digital art book, a digital soundtrack mini-track, and the Shitieshou Hat item. Those who purchase any version, whether physical or digital, by March 18, 2027, will receive the Harvest God Armor set as a pre-order bonus. Digital pre-orders placed before the launch will grant extra access to the Creator Goddess Garb set.
