Women in rehabilitation centers after experiencing violence have received additional support measures. They are now provided with expanded legal assistance, as well as exemption from paying some state fees when restoring necessary documents.
The director of the Tashkent Regional Center for Rehabilitation and Adaptation of Women, Mukhabbat Zahidova, told Podrobno.uz correspondent about the functioning of this system. According to her, the victim can be in the center along with minor children aged from six months to six months.
A personalized assistance program is developed for each woman, which involves a psychologist, a lawyer, and a social worker. The center also supports those who are unemployed or lack a profession, helping them with job searching and training, while children are sent to kindergartens or schools.
Mukhabbat Zahidova emphasized that often the woman herself is not ready to initiate seeking help, so the support of third parties, such as relatives or neighbors, is critically important; they must help bring the victim out of an environment of humiliation and violence.
Over the past year, the capabilities of the rehabilitation centers themselves have significantly increased. Employees of these institutions now have the authority to represent the interests of victims in court proceedings. There is also the possibility of retaining a job for working women during their stay at the center, for which they are issued a sick leave certificate.
In addition, women have received a number of benefits related to the payment of state fees and the document restoration process. Previously, a criminal case was initiated in Tashkent against a Greco-Roman wrestling coach after his wife reported systematic domestic violence, resulting in her being issued a protective order.
