The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, highly praised the contribution of medical professionals to public welfare on Wednesday. He specifically commended the Indian Medical Association (IMA) for expanding its activities beyond clinical practice by establishing charitable blood banks and free outpatient departments (OPDs) in Gorakhpur.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Charitable Blood Center at the IMA building in Gorakhpur, Adityanath emphasized that the involvement of institutions in public healthcare is an important step towards social responsibility. He stated that the Indian Medical Association is not only an all-India organization of practicing doctors but has also fulfilled its social mission by launching blood banks and free OPDs in the Gorakhpur region.
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh also noted that while individual doctors provide aid through government and private systems, collective initiatives of professional associations are capable of strengthening the local healthcare system. Yogi Adityanath stressed that an organization jointly managing free OPDs or blood banks is an achievement in itself.
Earlier this week, officials reported that a differently-abled family in the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh received support from the state government regarding housing, education, and basic amenities following the intervention of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The Ramkishan Pandey family, which has four differently-abled children, received support under various government schemes after the district administration prioritized their issues upon the directive of the Chief Minister. According to officials, the family faced difficulties related to housing, education, and access to necessary facilities. Once the issue came to the administration's attention, steps were taken to provide assistance and improve living conditions.
Under the Kanshi Ram Awas Yojana scheme, the family was provided with housing, which helped resolve the problem of constant displacement. The administration also arranged wheelchairs for the differently-abled children to support their mobility. Officials added that the eldest son of the family, Ankur, was provided with a disability scholarship, aimed at providing financial aid and ensuring regular family support.
The administration also focused on the children's education and facilitated their enrollment in schools. Officials noted that efforts were made to ensure the children continued their studies and had access to educational opportunities. In addition to housing and educational support, the district administration completed the process of providing the Antyodaya ration card, income certificate, and Ujjwala gas connection to this family.
The government reported that the assistance was provided under various social security programs to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive benefits from government schemes. Officials stated that necessary measures were taken as per the Chief Minister's directives to address the family's problems and provide support related to housing, food security, education, and other basic needs. This initiative demonstrates the state government's efforts to support persons with disabilities and economically weaker families by ensuring access to social security programs and essential services.
