The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has reorganized the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). This decision was published by the government on Wednesday and includes several well-known figures from the film, television, music, and arts sectors.
The new commission of 18 members includes prominent figures such as actress Preeti Jha, Sunil Shetty, television star Rupali Ganguly, Pallavi Joshi, Pankaj Tripathi, and renowned Bengali cinema actor Prasanjit Chatterjee.
According to an official notification issued by the ministry, the government utilized powers granted by the Cinematograph Act to restructure this 18-member commission. The term of office for the new board will be three years from the date of assumption of office or until a new order is issued. This new commission came into effect immediately and will now handle film certification matters and related issues.
The new council team demonstrates good interaction between the Hindi film industry, regional cinema, and television. Among the major film stars included are Sunil Shetty, Preeti Jha, and Pankaj Tripathi. Additionally, Rupali Ganguly, known from the series 'Anupama', and actress Pallavi Joshi were included in the council. Renowned Bengali cinema actor Prasanjit Chatterjee also joined this team.
In addition to film actors, the council appointed individuals associated with music, direction, and literature. Other members of the commission include Vinod Anupam, Manoj Joshi, Abhishek Jain, Ricky Kates, Priyadarshan, Hansraj Hans, Supriya Yarlagadda, Yatindra Mishra, Nila Madhav Panda, Nisiganda Vad, Vaman Kendre, and Ramesh Patange.
