The photo gallery on Samsung devices will replace the integration with Microsoft OneDrive with Google Photos. This change was confirmed through an update to the Gallery Cloud Sync application, present on devices with the new One UI 9 system, where the Google service is mentioned in the description.
This new integration is expected to be available at the beginning of October. The discontinuation of the Microsoft service in the gallery of Galaxy phones and tablets had already been announced by the American company itself in May of this year.
Previously, there were expectations that Samsung Cloud would be reinstated, as it was replaced by OneDrive in 2021. Although support has not yet been officialized, a beta version appeared in version 1.6.09.31 of the Gallery Cloud Sync app for certain developers.
According to SamMobile, when activating this feature, users will be able to view storage in their Google Account, adjust synchronization, and manage space, among other functionalities.
With the end of the connection with Microsoft, signs have emerged of a reorganization of Samsung Cloud. Even though operational, this cloud service is intended exclusively for smartphone data and does not serve as a storage location for photos and videos.
It is important to note that images saved in OneDrive will no longer be directly accessible in the gallery of Samsung smartphones. To continue viewing these files, users will need to access the service through the application or via the onedrive.com portal, according to Microsoft's own support guidance.
