An important piece of news has emerged for cricket lovers, as the schedule for the fifth season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) is almost finalized. Female players have succeeded in establishing their unique identity through WPL, comparable to that of men.
According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the upcoming season of the Women's Premier League will be held during the period from January 14 to February 7, 2027. Fans eagerly await this women's mega-event every year.
Before the start of the new season, teams need to prepare their respective player lists (squads), for which some specific dates have been set. All franchises have been given until September 28 to decide which former players they wish to retain, meaning they must submit a player retention list.
Additionally, an auction will be held on October 28, 2026, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kochi. In this auction, all five teams will bid on new players with the aim of strengthening their squads.
Regarding the organization of matches, the BCCI is considering several venues. According to media reports, cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Varanasi, and Vadodara are being considered for this year's matches.
