The countdown to the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections for 2026-27 has begun. The university administration has prepared for the voting scheduled for September 18 to ensure it is conducted fairly, transparently, and peacefully.
To prevent any undesirable incidents, violence, or unrest, all university colleges have been issued strict instructions to enhance security measures over the next three to four days.
A high-level meeting was held to finalize preparations for the elections, chaired by the DUSU custodian, Professor Yogesh Singh. Senior university officials, college directors, the hostel vice-chancellery, and high-ranking Delhi Police officers participated in this meeting.
Professor Yogesh Singh instructed all college directors to appoint one faculty member in each college as a 'nodal officer' to improve coordination with the Delhi Police. The custodian emphasized that all university students are equal, and faculty members must play an active role in managing the elections, avoiding any political bias.
Due to the heightened sensitivity, special patrolling by female police officers will be deployed near women's colleges. Furthermore, night patrolling will continue in sensitive areas until September 18.
The election conducting team, including Dean of Colleges Professor Balaram Pani, Director of South Campus Professor Rajni Abbi, Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta, and Chief Electoral Officer Professor Raj Kishore Sharma, assured that the DUSU elections this time will take place in a completely transparent and peaceful environment.
