Uzbekhydroenergo and Kumsung discussed the development of micro-hydropower in Uzbekistan

The joint-stock company Uzbekhydroenergo and the South Korean company Kumsung Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. reached an agreement to develop roadmaps for creating micro-hydroelectric power plants in Uzbekistan. The parties also discussed the possibility of adapting Korean technologies for small and micro-hydroelectric power plants, as well as the prospects for implementing joint projects, according to Uzbekhydroenergo.

Kumsung Engineering & Construction presented to the Uzbekhydroenergo delegation, headed by Chairman of the Board Islom Abdurakhmonov. The presentation covered the company's main areas of activity, its production capacities, technological capabilities, and product range. Proposals for the development of small and micro-hydroelectric power plants were reviewed.

Special attention was paid to how to adapt advanced Korean technologies for the construction of small and micro-hydroelectric power plants considering the conditions in Uzbekistan, as well as the effective use of the energy potential of existing irrigation networks and hydraulic structures.

The participants in the negotiations also studied opportunities for local production of modern hydropower units, technology development, and the implementation of joint practical projects.

Representatives from Gidroproekt JSC, Uzhydropower plant, the National Research University 'TIIAME', and the faculty of Tashkent State Technical University participated in the Uzbek delegation. This allowed for a comprehensive discussion of cooperation prospects from a production, engineering, and scientific and technical perspective.

Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to develop roadmaps aimed at promoting micro-hydropower in Uzbekistan. Furthermore, it was decided to organize an official visit of representatives of Kumsung Engineering & Construction to Uzbekistan next month to continue working on potential projects.

Discussion of Cooperation Prospects

The company's delegation, led by Chairman of the Board Islom Abdurakhmonov, reviewed a presentation from Kumsung Engineering & Construction. Representatives of the Korean firm presented their main areas of activity, production capacities and technological capabilities, product catalog, as well as proposals for the development of small and micro-hydropower plants.

During the presentation and practical negotiations, special attention was paid to adapting Korean technologies for the construction of small and micro-hydropower plants considering the conditions in Uzbekistan. The parties also examined the potential for the effective use of energy resources of existing irrigation networks and hydraulic structures.

Furthermore, prospects for the production of modern hydropower units in Uzbekistan, the development of corresponding technologies, and the implementation of joint practical projects were discussed.

The delegation of JSC Uzbekhydroenergo included representatives from JSC Gidroproekt, an Uzbek HPP, the National Research University Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME), as well as faculty members from Tashkent State Technical University.

The participation of these individuals allowed for the review of cooperation prospects from a production, engineering, and scientific and technical point of view, as well as the assessment of the possibility of applying Kumsung Engineering & Construction's technological solutions for the needs of Uzbekistan's hydropower sector. After the meeting, the parties determined further areas of interaction and continued practical communication.
