SAFA has confirmed the advancement of negotiations regarding the possible role of AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane within the Bafana Bafana national team setup. The national team coach, Pitso Mosimane, is surrounded by a technical staff being formed with the support of SAFA President Danny Jordaan and his deputy Linda Zwane.
SAFA reported that progress is being made concerning the potential position for AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane. SAFA Deputy President Linda Zwane emphasized that the association supports the vision of new head coach Pitso Mosimane when assembling his technical team.
Although Linda Zwane did not officially confirm Zwane's appointment, she indicated that discussions are moving in the right direction. She stated: 'We are making progress regarding this (getting Zwane), we support coach Pitso. Whoever he names as part of the technical staff, we will do it for him.'
Arthur Zwane, known as '10111' during his playing career, is one of the coaches Mosimane intends to work with during his final tenure leading Bafana. The former Kaizer Chiefs coach already has experience with the national team, having been part of Bafana's technical staff under Molefi Ntseki in 2019.
His coaching career also includes significant work within the Kaizer Chiefs development structures before taking over as head coach, and subsequently leading AmaZulu. Linda Zwane believes his experience makes him a natural candidate for work within the national structure. She added: 'Of course, I cannot say much about this (Zwane's inclusion), but he is also here because of his work in Kaizer Chiefs youth teams, he was also part of the national team under coach Molefi Ntseki, and now he is doing great work at AmaZulu, and if coach Pitso wants him, we will do it.'
Zwane's potential addition would provide Mosimane with an additional specialist who understands the South African football landscape and has experience working with players at various levels. However, SAFA's priority remains ensuring Mosimane's freedom and support to build a technical team capable of achieving set goals. The association noted: 'We know he needs our help to succeed, but we also do not want to be the reason if he does not succeed.'
Meanwhile, SAFA has already finalized the appointment of Morena Ramoreboli, whose appointment to Mosimane's Bafana technical staff was confirmed last week. Linda Zwane explained that Mosimane specifically named Ramoreboli as someone he wanted to work with, which prompted SAFA to contact the Botswana Football Association regarding his release. This was made possible due to good relations with that federation.
Ramoreboli previously worked within the Bafana structure and was part of the technical staff that won the COSAFA Cup during the COVID-19 pandemic. SAFA had also considered him for a role in the U-23 national team before the Olympics. Now, attention is focused on whether Zwane will become the next member of Mosimane's technical staff.
