Apex Insurance Maintains Leadership in Uzbekistan's General Insurance Market

According to data from the National Agency for Advanced Projects (NAPP), major general insurance companies in Uzbekistan showed highly uneven growth in net insurance premiums in the first half of 2026. The market leader, Apex Insurance JSC, increased its premiums by 41.2%, while some large and medium insurers showed significantly higher growth, and others recorded declines.

The total volume of net insurance premiums in the general insurance sector grew by 46.2%, reaching 5.446 trillion UZS compared to 3.724 trillion UZS the previous year.

Market Leaders and Growth Dynamics

Apex Insurance JSC maintained the first position, receiving 1.524 trillion UZS in premiums, which is almost three times the figure of its closest competitor, My-Insurance JSC. The latter company increased its premiums by 36.5%, reaching 483.9 billion UZS.

Kapital Sug'urta JSC took third place, more than doubling its premiums, which grew by 108.2% to 480.9 billion UZS. O'zbekinvest JSC and Kafolat Sug'urta Kompaniyasi JSC also demonstrated notable growth, with their premiums increasing by 53.8% to 480.2 billion UZS and by 92.0% to 294.3 billion UZS, respectively.

Among companies not in the top five, Imkon Sug'urta JSC showed the strongest growth, increasing premiums almost fourfold, or by 293.1%, to 55.6 billion UZS. Infinity Insurance JSC increased premiums by 163.1% to 69.0 billion UZS, and Neo Insurance Corp JSC showed growth of 143.4% with an amount of 89.0 billion UZS. Alfa Invest Sug'urta Kompaniyasi JSC also achieved significant growth of 88.0%, reaching 138.8 billion UZS.

Not all companies were able to increase their premiums. Asia Insurance Sug'urta Kompaniyasi JSC recorded a decline of 9.5%, falling to 60.9 billion UZS, while Ishonch Sug'urta Kompaniyasi JSC dropped by 11.1% to 39.9 billion UZS. The sharpest decline among operating companies was noted at Semurg Sug'urta JSC, whose premiums decreased by 71.9% from 26.6 billion UZS the previous year to 7.5 billion UZS.

During the reporting period, a new participant entered the reinsurance segment—O'zbekiston Qayta Sug'urta Kompaniyasi JSC, which collected 3.3 billion UZS in net premiums.

Insurance premiums in Uzbekistan grew by 28.6% in the first half of 2026

According to data from the National Agency for Advanced Projects (NAPP), the insurance market in Uzbekistan collected 8.019 trillion UZS in insurance premiums during the first half of 2026. This figure demonstrates a growth of 28.6% compared to the 6.235 trillion UZS collected in the same period a year earlier.

During the year, the number of active insurance organizations increased from 34 to 35, and the number of life insurance companies grew from six to seven. The total accredited capital of insurers increased by 37.2%, reaching 4.293 trillion UZS.

The market saw a 14.8% increase in the number of insurance agents, rising from 3,442 to 3,951 people. Simultaneously, the number of corporate agents decreased by 16.6%, amounting to 1,188. The number of broker-insurance intermediaries decreased from 11 to 10, while the number of actuarial specialists remained unchanged at seven. The number of insurance organizations participating in the Insurance Payment Guarantee Fund also remained unchanged at 25.

The general insurance sector contributed the most to the premium growth, where collections rose by 28.1%, reaching 7.495 trillion UZS. Life insurance premiums increased by 36.6%, totaling 524.8 billion UZS. Voluntary insurance, excluding life insurance, accounted for about 83% of total premiums, mandatory insurance for about 11%, and life insurance for approximately 7%.

Total insurance payouts in the market grew by 80.9%, reaching 2.253 trillion UZS. In general insurance, payouts increased by 82.6%, amounting to 2.156 trillion UZS, including 1.930 trillion UZS in voluntary insurance payouts, which grew by 97.1%. Life insurance payouts increased by 49.8%, reaching 96.6 billion UZS.

The total insurance liabilities of market participants increased by 48.2%, reaching 4.415 trillion UZS. The sharpest growth was recorded in the life insurance segment, where liabilities increased more than 34 times—from 13.3 billion to 460.5 billion UZS. Almost all this growth was provided by Apex Life Insurance, whose liabilities increased from 9.6 billion to 455.0 billion UZS. This company accounted for approximately 99.6% of the liability growth in the life insurance sector and held about 98.8% of all liabilities in this segment by the end of the first half.

The total investment volume of insurance organizations increased by 28.8% year-on-year, reaching 10.740 trillion UZS. Bank deposits occupied a growing share in the investment portfolio, increasing from 60.9% to 65.1%, or 6.991 trillion UZS. The share of securities decreased from 16.7% to 14.2%, and the share of real estate decreased from 18.7% to 16.5%. The share of other investments increased from 1.9% to 3.1%.

Apex Insurance JSC maintained its leadership in the general insurance sector by net premiums, receiving 1.524 trillion UZS, which represents an increase of 41.2% compared to the first half of 2025. In the life insurance segment, Apex Life Insurance JSC led the market with net premiums of 380.9 billion UZS, which is 53.4% more than the previous year.
