Polish researchers have established that representatives of the Welbards culture, who are generally associated with the Goths, manufactured pillows or mattresses from plant down for their deceased in the early centuries AD.
The discovery was made in northern Poland, where scientists found plant remains among artifacts from four different graves. Additionally, fragments of high-quality woolen fabric were preserved in these burials.
The research findings were presented in a scientific article published in the journal Antiquity.
