China has a vein scanning payment system on the palm that does not require a smartphone or QR codes

In India, the UPI payment system is popular, allowing users to easily make transactions by scanning a QR code via a mobile phone after activating UPI. However, this requires having a smartphone.

China also operates a unique payment system called the Palm Scan Payment System. This system allows users to simply hold their palm in front of a special device, eliminating the need for a smartphone, QR codes, or entering a PIN. The payment is completed within seconds.

WeChat Pay in China launched this palm-based digital payment system in 2023. This biometric system detects veins located inside the palm and wrist, and after initial authentication, the payment proceeds automatically.

To use the palm payment system in China, registration is required. Users must scan their palm using a compatible device and link their bank account.

After completing the scanning process, users can pay for goods in stores, use transportation, and other services using their palm.

A feature of this system is that every time a user displays their wrist, the system quickly captures the veins on the palm. After successful scanning, the payment occurs automatically.

The Palm Payment system does not require users to constantly carry a smartphone, providing the ability to pay without a phone or QR codes. The company reported that this system is used in retail stores, shopping malls, gyms, malls, railway stations, offices, and various campuses.
