Nature-based tourist attractions in Sharjah showed a 5% increase in guests in August 2026

Sharjah Collections recorded a five percent increase in visitors to its hotels and resorts in August 2026 compared to the same month last year. This was reported by Sheikha Al Shamsi, Senior Marketing Director of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).

Speaking at the Arab Tourism Market, which began in Dubai on Monday, Al Shamsi attributed this growth to the rising demand for authentic, nature-based experiences. She noted that people from various emirates show great interest in Sharjah because it offers authentic and natural experiences that allow interaction with nature, making the emirate unique.

The director emphasized that ecotourism is actively developing, and even Generation Z shows significant interest in nature, preferring nature over traditional shopping malls and shopping. According to her, residents want to connect with nature, and this is one of the known features of the emirate.

Al Shamsi stressed that Shurooq's hospitality offerings are focused on selling experiences, not just rooms. She specified that each retreat is designed to preserve the authenticity and uniqueness of the location, and that their hotels are boutique properties that represent more than just a room.

As an example, she cited Najd Al Muksar village, a historic village over 200 years old with only seven rooms. She pointed out that the walking trail, nature, weather in Khor Fakkan, and restaurant create a unique experience unavailable elsewhere. Furthermore, she added that guests interact not only with the environment but also with the local community, which is a defining characteristic of Sharjah's offerings.

Shurooq CEO Ahmed Al Qaseer confirmed to Khaleej Times that other unique Shurooq offerings, such as the Nomad mountain trailer retreat and The Moon Retreat glamping site, will resume operations next month once the weather becomes cooler.

Nomad includes 20 eco-luxury residential trailers that use natural materials and a hybrid solar energy system. This strengthens the off-grid operational model and its 'focus on reducing social media dependence.' Nomad, opened on December 31, 2025, is located among the rugged peaks of Kalba.

The Moon Retreat, in turn, offers a choice of ten domes and six private tents, each with a breathtaking view of the desert.
