Meta may launch smart glasses without a camera in 2026

Meta is planning to introduce a new model of smart glasses that will not have a camera yet this fall in the Northern Hemisphere, according to The Information. This device, which is being developed internally under the codename Luna, would mark a difference compared to the company's current smart glasses, which include cameras for recording photos and videos.

According to the report, the decision to eliminate the camera happens in a context of increased scrutiny over the recording functionalities present in smart glasses. The Information obtained this information through individuals familiar with the company's projects.

Launch Details

Meta could present the Luna during its annual Connect event, scheduled for September 23 and 24. Furthermore, according to The Information, the company's goal would be to start distributing the glasses in October. Meta itself has not yet issued statements on the matter.

As of now, specific information, such as cost, availability, and other technical features of the Luna, remains undisclosed.
