OAO 'Uzatom' announced plans to complete the design documentation for the NPP by the end of the year
Rosatom Corporation plans to fully prepare the design documentation for the construction of the nuclear power plant (NPP) in Uzbekistan by the end of 2026, according to Uzatom.
Furthermore, throughout 2026, it is planned to deepen the localization of the project and accelerate the training of customers and operational personnel for the NPP.
Subsequently, in 2027, work is scheduled for developing licensing documentation for large VVER units and designing the general buildings of the station.
In September 2025, Rosatom and the government of Uzbekistan signed an additional agreement regarding the main terms of implementing the integrated NPP construction project in the Jizzakh region of the republic.
The project includes two high-power energy units based on third-generation VVER-1000 reactors plus two small energy units with RITM-200N reactors, each with a capacity of 55 MW.
Construction of the station began in early June of this year with the pouring of the first concrete for the small reactor on the NPP territory. The total cost of the entire complex is $9.5 billion, and completion of construction is planned for 2035.
