A delegation from Uzbekhydroenergo JSC, led by Chairman of the Board Islam Abdurakhmonov, conducted a business trip to the Republic of Korea. During the visit, they toured the production facilities of Kumsung Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., a South Korean manufacturer of equipment for small and micro hydropower plants.
During the visit, the delegation familiarized itself with the procedures for designing, manufacturing, and testing hydrogenerators and hydraulic equipment. Special attention was paid to innovative hydrogenerators developed for the efficient use of low-head water flows used in small and micro HPPs.
One of the important aspects of South Korea's experience is the practice of testing equipment directly during its manufacturing process, while monitoring technical parameters and assessing efficiency. This approach was recognized as valuable for the development and improvement of hydropower engineering in Uzbekistan.
Furthermore, the delegation visited the Baekjebo Hydroelectric Power Plant on the Geum River in South Korea. This plant, commissioned in 2011, is equipped with four hydrogenerators with a total capacity of 2.64 MW and generates electricity through the efficient use of natural head and water flow.
Kumsung E&C was founded in 1982 and specializes in the production of equipment for the energy sector, including gates and elevators for irrigation and water supply systems, pumping equipment, and automated water drainage devices.
This trip is part of Uzbekhydroenergo's systematic efforts to study international experience and implement advanced technologies. It is worth noting that in recent years, the number of hydropower plants in Uzbekistan has increased from 36 to 106, and the total installed capacity of hydropower has reached 2.5 GW.
