The administration of the Fergana Region announced the intentions of the Fergana Region and the South Korean city of Nonsan to deepen practical interaction in the fields of agriculture, agrotechnologies, food processing, and innovation.
The Governor of the Fergana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, held a meeting with the Mayor of Nonsan from Chungcheongnam-do Province, Baek Song-hyun. The parties discussed strengthening economic ties, exchanging experience, and implementing joint projects.
Particular attention was paid to Nonsan's experience, where agriculture and industry develop through the use of modern technologies. This city is known in South Korea for strawberry production and employs a comprehensive approach that includes crop cultivation, implementation of agrotechnologies, processing, value addition, and promotion of finished products.
In 2027, Nonsan will host the Nonsan Strawberry Industry International Exhibition. Participants noted that this city's experience is of significant interest to the Fergana Region.
The possibility of combining the agricultural potential of the Fergana Region with Nonsan's technologies for developing deep fruit and vegetable processing, as well as for introducing modern intensive farming and greenhouse methods, was considered.
One of the proposed initiatives was the creation of a modern center in the Fergana Region for growing planting material and developing intensive agriculture based on Nonsan's experience in strawberry production.
Training specialists was also discussed. Specifically, it was proposed to send young specialists from Fergana for short-term internships in Nonsan and invite Korean experts to the region.
The parties also considered launching joint programs between universities and research centers. Nonsan's experience is not limited to agriculture; the city implements a strategy combining the economy, the agricultural sector, and tourism. As part of the new economic strategy, the city is also involved in developing defense industry, artificial intelligence, and research and development (R&D).
Khayrullo Bozorov spoke about favorable conditions for investors in the Fergana Region, current projects in industry and agriculture, and measures to attract modern technologies.
After the meeting, the parties emphasized the need to expand direct contacts between entrepreneurs and specialized organizations from the two regions, organize mutual visits, and move from promising initiatives to concrete projects. Agreement was reached on developing a roadmap and systematically advancing practical cooperation.
