Fergana Region and Nonsan City Agree to Expand Cooperation in Agrotechnologies

Uzbekistan and Georgia held their first meeting of the Working Group on Agricultural Issues via video conference to discuss new directions for joint cooperation in the agrarian sphere.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, as well as specialists from relevant scientific research institutions, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan.

The main focus of the participants was on exchanging experience in the field of animal husbandry. The parties discussed the development of this sector, the interaction between scientific research and practical application, and the introduction of advanced methods into production processes.

Furthermore, the topic of creating and cultivating olive groves was raised. Georgia's experience, modern agrotechnologies, and approaches to creating such plantations were reviewed, as were the prospects for developing scientific methods in horticulture, vegetable farming, and gardening.

At the end of the meeting, the participants emphasized the need for continuous development of mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthening existing ties, and implementing new joint projects in the agricultural sector.

Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Serbian company Evro Kalem Trade Ltd discussed opportunities for developing modern nurseries and intensive orchards in Uzbekistan.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, the negotiations focused on establishing a modern nursery, implementing advanced agricultural technologies, and adapting export-oriented fruit varieties to Uzbekistan's agro-climatic conditions.

One of the areas under consideration is the creation of a nursery in Uzbekistan for producing planting material. This project aims to introduce modern production methods and promote the cultivation and propagation of high-yield fruit varieties demanded by the market.

Particular attention was paid to apple varieties, including Pink Lady and other promising cultivars. The parties proposed studying their suitability for various agro-climatic conditions in Uzbekistan. Tests are planned at experimental sites, after which the most suitable varieties can be more widely introduced into production.

Another potential element of the project is the establishment of a modern nursery and intensive orchards in the Jizzakh region. Participants discussed the efficient use of the region's land and water resources, as well as its agro-climatic conditions and existing infrastructure.

Under the proposed project, the region will be able to produce certified high-quality planting material and establish intensive orchards. This will also ensure the supply of fruit seedlings that meet quality and certification requirements.

The cooperation also includes the transfer of Serbian expertise to Uzbek specialists. Specifically, the parties intend to consider introducing modern grafting methods, producing high-quality rootstocks and certified seedlings, as well as providing professional training for local specialists.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working on the project concept. The next stage will involve identifying suitable land plots for implementation in the Jizzakh region and further developing a modern base for growing fruit seedlings in Uzbekistan.

This cooperation is expected to support the development of intensive horticulture, increase the output of certified high-quality planting material, and expand market opportunities for agricultural products both domestically and internationally.

According to information from the Fergana region of Uzbekistan, this region intends to adopt South Korean medical practices and expand cooperation with the Bundang National University Hospital in Seoul.

Discussion of Cooperation

The Governor of the Fergana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, held negotiations on September 4, 2026, with a delegation led by Professor Sergey Kim, who is the head of the International Medical Center at Bundang National University Hospital in Seoul. The main topic of the meeting was deepening interaction in the field of healthcare, presenting advanced medical methods, improving specialists' qualifications, and organizing professional exchange programs in the region.

Bozorov emphasized that nationwide reforms are currently underway aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of medical services, as well as expanding modern diagnostic and treatment methods. He noted that partnership with international medical institutions, including leading clinics from South Korea, is an important element of this development strategy.

Plans for Experience Exchange

As part of the proposals put forward during the negotiations, doctors from the Fergana region will be sent to Bundang National University Hospital in Seoul to receive advanced training. The parties also discussed the possibility of holding master classes and training courses, which will be conducted by specialists from South Korea directly in Fergana, as well as exchanging technical expertise in diagnostic and treatment methods.

After the meeting concluded, both sides agreed to formalize their partnership through a roadmap. This document will define the operational framework and specific steps for implementation between the medical institutions of the Fergana region and South Korea.

Bundang National University Hospital in Seoul is one of South Korea's major university medical centers, specializing in high-tech diagnostics, medical research, and the integration of medical information technologies.
