The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has issued a public warning regarding cosmetic creams manufactured in Pakistan that are being sold in India. This warning pertains to creams intended for skin lightening or brightening.
Specifically, the product 'Chandni Whitening Cream' is included in the list of such products. According to CDSCO data, both these creams are banned from sale in India, yet they continue to appear in local markets. Experts warn that using these products is dangerous to health and advise consumers to refrain from using them, while sellers should not sell them.
The presence of excessive amounts of heavy metals, such as mercury, in skin lightening creams can negatively affect the skin. In some cases, this can lead to kidney problems. According to the US FDA, some similar products contain elevated levels of mercury, which harms both the skin and the kidneys.
If you possess 'Gori Beauty Cream' and 'Chandni Whitening Cream', you should immediately stop using them and avoid reapplying them. It is also recommended to avoid self-applying any creams promising skin lightening without consulting a doctor, as they may contain dangerous amounts of mercury.
These creams were banned approximately two months ago. The report established that the heavy metal content in them far exceeds established norms. Furthermore, the inspection revealed that these creams lacked expiration dates. It was also noted that some women in Maharashtra experienced kidney diseases after using these creams.
