Oracle conducts layoffs; employees share their dismissal stories

Following extensive speculation, Oracle officially announced staff reductions. The exact number of affected employees has not yet been determined. The layoff process began on Monday, September 14th. Affected employees received emails around 6 AM, informing them that access to Oracle systems had already been blocked before they received the official notification.

The company's emails stated that employee positions were being eliminated as part of the ongoing changes. The day these emails were received became the last working day for these individuals. Many affected employees are still trying to process the situation, while others are sharing their experiences on social media.

One employee shared on Reddit that upon waking up, he discovered his access to the Oracle system was blocked. About an hour later, he received the termination email. He expressed surprise, as he had worked at Oracle for about two years as a junior developer and had never received a promotion since starting as an intern. Furthermore, his manager had never given him poor reviews and often assigned him important tasks.

The Reddit user added that he had recently started preparing for a job change, but he was already anxious due to the current difficult labor market. Now, he fears having to compete for jobs with other technical specialists who were affected by the layoffs.

Another employee recounted his experience at Oracle. He reported being laid off just 11 days before his wedding. This Reddit user wrote: 'I was laid off 11 days before my wedding. I worked here for four and a half years, and in the end, I was fired.' He noted that he understood this was a company decision, and they were unaware of his personal life. Nevertheless, the timing of the dismissal was very unexpected for him. However, the employee also felt some relief, as he wanted to move forward and start a new career or find a new job. He aims to work somewhere where he can do good for the world.

Yet another employee struggled for a long time, fearing inclusion in the layoff list. But one incident completely changed his worldview. His young child suddenly fell ill due to suffocation, and at that moment, only the child was near him. In seconds, he realized that at that moment, work, money, career, or promotion meant nothing. Only his child mattered to him.

The wife of another employee shared this in a LinkedIn post. She wrote that her husband lost his job at Oracle after 12 years with the company. In the post, she continued that after 12 years at Oracle, he could only log in and receive the news. People commented that it was hard to tell from the outside how much he had worked for his job or what pressure he was under. This was because he always smiled and was always ready to help those around him.

The pain of job loss was different for all these employees, but their stories clearly show that layoffs are not limited to simply reducing staff numbers or reorganizing the company. When a person suddenly loses their job, various problems arise. There is anxiety about the future, increased pressure to find a new job, and uncertainty regarding one's career.
