The consortium led by Air Arabia is preparing to commence air transport services from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam on September 20, 2026. This became possible after the consortium received an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) on Sunday.
Initially, the consortium will serve three domestic routes: Riyadh, Jeddah, and Medina. The routes between Dammam and Riyadh, as well as Dammam and Jeddah, will operate twice daily, while the Dammam-Medina line will run daily.
As reported by Khaleej Times on Monday, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation issued the AOC to the Air Arabia-led consortium for the launch of a new budget national airline based in Dammam.
Adel Al Ali, CEO of the Air Arabia Group, characterized the launch as a strategic milestone in the group's growth journey, emphasizing the company's commitment to expanding accessible and reliable air travel options for customers across the Kingdom.
He noted that the airline will provide improved connectivity across the kingdom, especially in the Eastern Province, by offering a wider selection of direct domestic and international destinations.
Mohammed bin Ali Al-Hassani, CEO of Dammam Airports, stated that this reflects the airport's growing standing and the trust of its partners in its operational capabilities. Al-Hassani added that Dammam Airports plans a new phase of development focused on improving connectivity and serving travelers from the Eastern Province to global destinations. Air Arabia utilizes a fleet of single-aisle Airbus A320 aircraft.
