Shurooq plans to increase the capacity of Al Faya Retreat resort from five to twenty rooms

Shurooq has announced plans to expand its Al Faya Retreat resort, which is located against the backdrop of a UNESCO World Heritage site. The resort's capacity will be increased from five to twenty rooms.

This statement was made by Ahmed Al Qaseer, the company's CEO, during the Arabian Travel Market. Furthermore, other unique Shurooq offerings, such as the Nomad mountain trailer resort and The Moon Retreat glamping site, are expected to reopen next month when the weather becomes cooler.

The Nomad resort features twenty eco-luxury residential trailers that utilize natural materials and a hybrid solar energy system. This supports an off-grid operational model and emphasizes the commitment to reducing dependence on social networks. Meanwhile, The Moon Retreat offers a choice of ten domes and six private tents, providing breathtaking views of the desert.

Sharjah Collections, managed by Minor Hotels and appointed by Shurooq, reported a five percent growth in guest numbers across its hotels and resorts in August 2026 compared to the same month last year. This information was provided by Sheikha Al Shamsi, Senior Marketing Director at the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).

Speaking about the growth, Al Shamsi attributed the increased demand to a growing interest in authentic, nature-based experiences. She noted that many people from different emirates show great interest because Sharjah provides genuine and natural experiences where one can interact with nature itself. According to her, this is what makes Sharjah unique.

She also emphasized that ecotourism is rapidly developing, and even Generation Z shows significant interest in nature, preferring nature over traditional shopping malls and retail spaces. Al Shamsi stated that people genuinely want to connect with nature, and this is what the emirate is known for.

Al Shamsi highlighted that Shurooq's hospitality offerings are built on selling experiences rather than just rooms. She clarified that each resort is designed to preserve the authenticity and uniqueness of the location, and their hotels are boutique properties that go beyond just a room.

As an example, she cited the Najd Al Muksar village, a historic village over 200 years old, which has only seven rooms. She added that the hiking trails, nature, weather in Khor Fakkan, and the restaurant create a unique experience unavailable anywhere else. Additionally, she mentioned that guests interact not only with the environment but also with the local community, which is a defining characteristic of Sharjah's offerings.
