Global discussions are underway regarding artificial intelligence (AI) and the potential threats it poses. In this context, US President Donald Trump has opposed attempts to regulate AI, calling them a 'dirty conspiracy.'
He stated that claims that AI will destroy humanity are completely false. On his social platform Truth Social, Trump noted that in the history of business, industry leaders have never demanded rules that could lead to their collapse.
Trump emphasized: 'That AI will take over the world, destroy humanity, and all other bad things is just a hoax. It's a new fabrication, similar to debates about Russia, debates about Ukraine, and impeachment conspiracies.'
Furthermore, Trump mentioned that Chinese President Xi Jinping previously stated that China would not impede AI development. Meanwhile, major US companies like Google are considering building a large plant in Finland due to difficulties with strict regulations and permits.
In the US president's view, AI and data centers will become the largest economic drivers in history, creating a market larger than oil, gold, diamonds, and the internet. Trump added: 'Those who say AI will destroy the world are the same people who previously claimed the world would perish due to climate change. I will expose this new hoax too. The idea that robots will take over cities is completely unfounded.'
Recently, Trump met with Sam Altman from OpenAI. Altman took a balanced position, stating that compromises on safety standards cannot be made under pressure from American competition, and that the capabilities of AI should not exceed the level of monitoring and control.
According to sources, the meeting between Trump and Sam Altman took place during the Republican midterms convention in Dallas.
Additionally, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also opposes exaggerating the threats associated with AI. On Monday, Trump called Huang during a podcast interview. Huang put the phone on speakerphone, and both leaders agreed that there is excessive fear surrounding AI in the market. Trump believes that strict restrictions on AI will only benefit China.
