Uzbekistan is studying the possibility of changing the procedure for determining the amount of alimony payments, eliminating the direct dependence of these payments on the parent's monthly income. This proposal was voiced by Dilnosa Kattakhonova, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Family and Women, during a plenary session of the Senate.
According to Kattakhonova, there is an increase in cases where parents attempt to reduce the alimony amount by hiding their real income or formally taking low-paying jobs.
In response to this problem, it is proposed to introduce a minimum consumer basket for each age group of children. Under this new approach, the alimony amount will be determined based on the child's needs, and not solely on the salary of the father or mother.
Furthermore, an option is being considered to transfer some functions related to collecting alimony payments to the private sector. Currently, these functions are performed by the Enforcement Bureau.
