According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, three minor children of Uzbek citizens who were in correctional facilities in the Mordovia and Samara regions of Russia have been returned to Uzbekistan.
These children were located in a children's institution within one of the correctional facilities in Mordovia. Among them were two girls aged four and two and a half years old, as well as a boy aged one year old.
Before the repatriation took place, Uzbek diplomats confirmed the children's citizenship, established the presence of relatives in Uzbekistan, and prepared all necessary documents. The completed materials were submitted to the relevant Russian authorities.
The return of the children was organized by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazan. They were accompanied by diplomats and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs dispatched from Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazan conducts systematic work to return children of Uzbek citizens who are in children's institutions of correctional facilities in Russia.
