A protest focused on child safety on the Roblox platform interrupted a presentation during the Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) 2026. The content creator known as Emathiio went onto the stage while the co-founder and CEO David Baszucki was presenting, and was subsequently removed by security staff.
Emathiio was wearing a T-shirt with the inscription "Kids Deserve Better" and shouted "we deserve more" before being restrained. Images shared on social media indicate that this intervention lasted only a few seconds.
After the incident, Emathiio released a video explaining that his goal was to raise awareness about the problems faced by children on the platform, who, according to him, have no voice in events like the RDC. The YouTuber stated that "Everyone wants more safety for children," arguing that every year of slow progress in protections means more time minors can be affected.
The protester also refuted claims that his action was solely aimed at gaining notoriety. He emphasized that he did not expect consensus on the method of protest but assured that he did not intend to permanently paralyze the RDC or cause damage to the event.
In response to the situation, Baszucki attempted to resume the presentation on stage, commenting: "We all get a little excited when RDC arrives, as you just saw."
This protest occurs at a time when the safety of minors is a central issue involving Roblox in the United States. The company is currently under investigation by the United States Senate regarding the protections offered to minors and the measures taken to prevent the platform from being used for child exploitation. Furthermore, the company has already implemented stricter age restrictions and parental controls.
The issue has also reached the judicial sphere through lawsuits filed by families and state authorities. There is mention of a specific case related to the death of a 13-year-old teenager, in which Roblox seeks to resolve the dispute through arbitration, based on the terms of use accepted by the account.
Emathiio did not detail a specific policy or incident as the reason for his intrusion. His act was presented as a broader criticism of how the platform has managed the safety of children and adolescents.
