The head of the Central Bank of Iran held meetings and negotiations with the heads of the Central Banks of Turkey and Tunisia within the framework of the summit of central bank governors of Islamic countries.
According to IRNA, citing the Central Bank, Abdolnaser Hemmati, the head of the Central Bank who arrived in Turkey to participate in this summit, held meetings with his colleagues on the sidelines of the event.
During these meetings, special attention was paid to expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Islamic states. Another topic raised during the meeting of the Central Bank governor was strengthening monetary and credit and banking ties between these countries.
Hemmati left Tehran on Sunday to take part in the gathering of central bank governors of Islamic countries. The Central Bank governor traveled from Tehran to Istanbul leading a high-ranking delegation to participate in this meeting.
As part of this trip, in addition to participating and actively engaging in the official meeting of central bank governors of Islamic countries, the central bank governor has intensive bilateral meetings scheduled with officials from the summit participating countries.
The main focus of these consultations is stated to be deepening and developing bilateral banking and trade cooperation, as well as creating and defining new mechanisms to facilitate trade between the parties. It is expected that this trip will be an effective step towards reducing financial restrictions and strengthening Iran's economic relations with Islamic countries.
