Congress leader and opposition leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has called on students to participate in his initiative 'Chhatron Ki Goonj,' which will take place in Indore on September 19. He presented this event as an opportunity for those facing difficulties due to the education system to collectively demand change.
In a message on X in Hindi, the Rae Bareli MP stated: 'I am going to Indore on September 19 to meet students, listen to you, and talk to you. If you or your loved ones are suffering from the education system and want to change these conditions, you know that 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' is your collective voice, an opportunity to start change.'
He strongly urged students to register using the link published in his post and attend the event in large numbers. Gandhi added that in Indore, they will discuss in detail all aspects of education and the problems students face.
Rahul had previously stated that the Indian education system is failing the generation it is supposed to support and called on students, parents, and teachers to share the reasons for their loss of hope in it. He emphasized that reforming the education system must begin by listening to the people who daily encounter its problems, and asked them to share their experiences, evidence, and ideas via an online link.
The event in Indore will be the fifth edition of the 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' initiative. The Congress MP has previously held similar meetings in Kota, Dehradun, Prayagraj, and Pune. The Pune edition, held on August 22, was dedicated to female students.
The approach of Rahul's visit to Indore triggered a verbal spat between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav mocked the Congress leader on Sunday, calling him 'Pappu,' and questioned his remarks regarding the judicial system and the armed forces. Yadav also criticized the upcoming event in Indore, demanding that Rahul apologize when he visits the state.
Congress leader P.S. Sharma responded to this remark, stating: 'They kept calling him 'Pappu,' but now he has become 'Papa' to everyone.'
Following this, BJP leaders criticized Sharma's response, with BJP leader Ajay Singh Yadav stating that Congress leaders should stick to a single narrative. This political exchange is happening ahead of Rahul's event on September 19, where he intends to interact with students and discuss their concerns about the education system.
