The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan announced the expansion of the partnership between Uzbekistan and South Korea in the field of training specialists for civil aviation. Currently, over 150 Uzbek citizens are studying at the Korea Aerospace University (KAU) in eight different fields.
The goal of this cooperation is to train pilots, aviation managers, air transport logistics specialists, and other professionals who meet international standards. Furthermore, experience from South Korea in aviation education and flight training is being transferred.
Uzbek students are studying for bachelor's and master's degrees, mastering disciplines such as flight management, air traffic control, aviation management, air transport logistics, service management, aviation business, information technology, and cybersecurity, as well as cabin crew training.
During his visit to South Korea, the Minister of Transport Ilhom Makhkamov met with the President of KAU, Heo Hee-young. The parties discussed the implementation of joint educational programs and plans to increase the number of accepted students.
Special attention was paid to KAU's participation in the pilot school activity being established in Uzbekistan. The involvement of flight instructors and training aircraft was also discussed.
Makhkamov also held a meeting with students from Uzbekistan at KAU, reviewing their study conditions, academic performance, and future plans. Opportunities for graduates' employment after completing their studies were discussed, including chances to work in Uzbekistan, for example, at the airports of New Tashkent and Urgench, in national airlines, and in the pilot school being established in the country.
The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan emphasized that the development of modern aviation requires not only updating the fleet of aircraft, modernizing airport infrastructure, and expanding the route network, but also forming qualified human capital that meets global requirements.
