Toyota Yaris Cross receives significant discounts and approaches Jeep Avenger in price

Toyota implemented price reductions across all 2026 Yaris Cross models during September. The discounts can reach R$ 22,500 on the entry-level version. Thanks to this initiative, the compact SUV now competes in price ranges with more affordable rivals and offers hybrid versions alongside combustion engine options.

The largest discount was applied to the XR 1.5 Flex model, intended for clients with a CNPJ through direct sales. Its price dropped from R$ 149,990 to R$ 127,490, representing a 15% decrease. With this adjustment, the Yaris Cross is only R$ 7,500 more expensive than the Jeep Avenger Altitude, which has a listed price of R$ 119,990 and was recently launched.

The other configurations had the following adjustments: the XRE 1.5 Flex went from R$ 161,390 to R$ 149,990; the XRX 1.5 Flex, from R$ 178,990 to R$ 159,990; the XRE Hybrid Flex, from R$ 172,390 to R$ 159,990; and the XRX Hybrid Flex, from R$ 189,990 to R$ 169,990.

This reorganization of values modifies the internal structure of the line. The XRE Hybrid, which is the entry point of the electrified line, now costs the same R$ 159,990 as the combustion XRX, equating to the initial price of the Omoda 5 in the country.

On the other hand, the XRX Hybrid, which is the top-of-the-line, received the largest discount among retail versions, reaching a R$ 20,000 reduction. This causes it to move away from the price range of mid-size SUVs, such as the Jeep Compass and the Toyota Corolla Cross, which are also on promotion.

It is important to note that this promotional condition does not imply a permanent change in the price list, but rather a time-limited campaign, which is unusual in Toyota's commercial strategy, which generally focuses on zero-interest financing and bonuses for trading in used vehicles. The manufacturer has used similar moves in its SW4, Hilux, and Corolla Cross models. In direct sales to CNPJ, the XR warranty is limited to 60 months or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.

Manufactured in Sorocaba (SP), the Yaris Cross accumulated 25,083 registered sales between January and August. This performance places it ahead of the Honda WR-V, which sold 24,151 units, but it is still behind the category leader, the Volkswagen T-Cross, which achieved 61,392 registrations in the same period.

The SUV is available with two engine options. The XR, XRE, and XRX versions use a 1.5L naturally aspirated flex engine with direct injection, generating 122 hp and 15.3 kgfm with ethanol. The hybrid versions combine a 1.5L Atkinson cycle flex engine, which produces 91 hp and 12.3 kgfm, with two electric motors of 80 hp and 14.4 kgfm, both powered by a 0.76 kWh lithium-ion battery. The combined power of these hybrid versions is 111 hp, although the total torque has not been disclosed by Toyota. All versions are equipped with a CVT automatic transmission simulating seven gears.

Volkswagen offers discounts of up to R$ 19,200 on the Tera 2026 before the 2027 line launch

Volkswagen is holding a sale on the Tera 2026 model, offering discounts that can reach R$ 19,200, which corresponds to approximately 13% of the original price, aiming to clear inventory before the arrival of the 2027 line, expected in October.

The highest trim version, the High 1.0 turbo flex 170 TSI, will receive the largest reduction, dropping from R$ 146,190 to R$ 126,990. At the other end of the line, the Tera MPI, equipped with a 1.0 naturally aspirated engine and a five-speed manual transmission, had its price reduced from R$ 107,190 to R$ 99,990. This decrease of R$ 7,200 places the entry-level version at the same price point it had when the SUV was launched in May 2025. Furthermore, the promotional campaign also covers the Polo Track, with prices starting from R$ 86,990.

These promotions are valid until September 30th or while stocks last, with final values depending on the region, model, and chosen version. Many conditions require the delivery of a used or pre-owned vehicle as part of the trade-in, in addition to financing through the manufacturer's bank, with term options between 36 and 48 months. It is important to note that the disclosed prices do not include additional costs such as fees, installment amounts, or the total effective cost.

The commercial interest in this model is due to its market stage; with just over one year of sales, the Tera registered 61,921 registrations until August and holds the second position among compact SUVs, a position Volkswagen seeks to maintain against the entry of the Jeep Avenger into the national market.

The 2027 line was presented on Saturday (5) during the Rock in Rio event and will be available in the Comfort and High versions. Both new versions will come equipped with the 1.0 turbo flex 200 TSI engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the current six-speed system. This new engine, adapted from the T-Cross, generates 116 hp using gasoline and 128 hp with ethanol, producing 20.4 kgfm at 2,000 rpm.

Compared to the current configuration, the 170 TSI engine produces 109 hp with gasoline and 116 hp with ethanol, generating 16.8 kgfm. This represents an increase of 12 hp in ethanol and 7 hp in gasoline, along with an increase of 3.6 kgfm in torque. To support this reinforcement, the Tera 200 TSI will start using four-wheel disc brakes, as currently only the rear axle uses drums. The only external aesthetic change will be the inclusion of the '200 TSI' badge on the trunk lid.

Currently, the Tera can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.7 seconds with ethanol and reach a top speed of 184 km/h. Volkswagen has not yet released information on the performance, fuel consumption, or prices of the 2027 line. With 128 hp, the SUV exceeds the limit of 115.6 hp established by the new Green IPI regulation, which provides for an extra rate of 0.75 percentage points, which may put pressure on the prices of the Comfort and High versions.
