Miral invests over 12 billion dirhams in Yas Island over five years

Miral, a company from Abu Dhabi, has announced plans to invest over 12 billion dirhams in Yas Island over the next five years. These funds will be allocated to finance new projects, expand existing attractions, and increase the number of hotel rooms, as part of efforts to strengthen Yas Island's position as a leading global destination for leisure.

This investment initiative aligns with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Strategy for 2030 and is separate from the previously announced Disney project. The announcement was made during the start of the Arab Tourism Market in Dubai, which is expected to host over 55,000 attendees, occurring at a crucial time for the global travel industry following a period of sector disruptions.

The next phase of development focuses on expanding the already existing world-class theme parks and attractions on Yas Island, as well as introducing new thrilling rides and experiences. The investments will also allow for an increase in hospitality offerings by adding new rooms to hotels and enhancing the accommodation portfolio.

Last week, Miral announced the highly anticipated addition of three new Harry Potter themed zones to the region's largest indoor theme park, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi. These new zones—Diagon Alley, Hogwarts, and Forbidden Forest—will cover approximately 63,000 square meters, with construction scheduled for completion by 2029.

Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Miral, noted that these investments reflect the company's long-term commitment to the vision of Abu Dhabi. He stated that 'Yas Island has become a global success story, demonstrating how a world-class experience contributes to economic growth, improved quality of life, and enhanced appeal of Abu Dhabi to audiences worldwide.'

He continued that this momentum will continue to build over the next five years. 'We continue to focus on creating long-term value for residents, visitors, and future generations while supporting the emirate's sustainable growth and diversification ambitions.'

These projects are intended to enrich visitor experiences and ensure that Yas Island continues to attract a global audience for many years to come. Furthermore, the investments support job creation and skills development, contributing to the emirate's broader goals of economic diversification, and underscore Miral's commitment to shaping the leisure and entertainment sector in Abu Dhabi, maintaining Yas Island's competitiveness amid changing visitor expectations.
