The Israeli Minister stated on Sunday that he intends to initiate the process of revoking citizenship from the filmmakers who created a documentary revealing a 'system of killings' of Palestinian civilians in Gaza during the Israeli genocide.
Culture Minister Micha Zahar called the film NAZA 'vile' and noted that its receipt of the Special Jury Prize at the 83rd Venice Film Festival on Saturday was 'shocking.' Zahar wrote on X that 'the creators' hot self-hatred and their willingness to harm their homeland for the applause of antisemites around the world goes beyond understanding and constitutes treason against the state.'
He added that he would immediately take steps to revoke Israeli citizenship from these 'vile creators' based on accusations of treason against the state.
The film, made by Oscar winners Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, examines the mechanisms behind the alleged mass extermination of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. It features interviews with 24 anonymous employees from Israeli military and intelligence services.
These sources describe the use of artificial intelligence-based systems to identify targets and conduct remote bombings, often knowing about the death of a large number of civilians. One military insider reported that in one case, the killing of up to 500 civilians was approved to eliminate one high-ranking Hamas member.
Yuval Abraham, one of the film's creators, emphasized: 'The essence of the film is a system of killings that has killed over 70,000 Palestinians in Gaza.'
The film received high praise at the Venice Film Festival, including record 24.5-minute ovations at its world premiere on September 10. However, the Israeli army rejected all claims presented in the film, stating that the identity of the interviewed individuals cannot be confirmed, including information on whether they served in the IDF or held any position related to the discussed issues.
