Amid protests over power outages in Punjab, Energy Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond made a statement. He announced that starting from September 13, there will be no more electricity cuts in Punjab. The minister also specified that the government has repaired thermal power plants, and private power stations are supplying energy.
According to Sond, farmers are receiving more electricity compared to the previous period; they are currently being provided with 10 hours of power supply, and additional energy will be provided during the rice growing season. Tarunpreet Singh Sond noted that the electricity demand this year exceeds last year's by 3500 megawatts.
The state government replaced the chief manager of PSPCL, IAS officer Basant Garg. The duties of the CMD of PSPCL are now entrusted to IAS officer Gurkirat Kripal Singh. Meanwhile, Ludhiana's industry, dissatisfied with irregular outages, will hold a large demonstration today afternoon on Chandigarh Road. The Congress party is also conducting protests against power cuts by organizing a blockade of the PSPCL headquarters in Patiala.
AAP Punjab leader and MP Kuldeep Singh Dalival accused the central government on Sunday of an energy crisis that arose in Punjab over the last 4-5 days. He stated that this crisis resulted from the negative attitude and policies of the central government that deprive the state of its fair share. Dalival asserted that thanks to the efforts of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Powercom staff, Punjab has completely emerged from this crisis.
AAP Punjab's chief spokesperson, Dalival, added that the problem was caused by technical malfunctions at private thermal power plants in Talwandi Sabo and Nabha, which are now fully repaired. He also reported that since 6 am on Sunday, uninterrupted electricity supply without any interruptions is being provided to agricultural, industrial, and domestic consumers across Punjab.
