Non-specialists discovered a gold signet ring dating back to the time of the Byzantine Empire near the city of Zlatograd in Bulgaria. The find was reported by Bulgarian researcher Nikolay Ovcharov.
The ring, found not far from the municipality, features mirrored lettering engravings. Judging by these signs, the artifact was created for a woman named Maria Skulena. According to information posted on the Arkeonews website, Maria Skulena used this item to certify letters or official documents.
