Flydubai announced on Monday that it has restored operations in 85 percent of its network, increasing the total number of destinations to over 125 in 56 countries, as reported by the carrier on Sunday.
The airline achieved an average of 2,200 flights per week. In recent months, flydubai has resumed or launched services to several important markets, including Aleppo, Benghazi, and Bangkok. Demand at Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) in Bangkok has been high enough to allow the airline to increase flight frequency from one to three daily non-stop flights.
Flydubai's network, covering more than 125 destinations, spans Africa, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Central and Southeast Europe, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and the Middle East, South, and Southeast Asia. Nearly one hundred of these destinations were underserved markets that previously had little or no direct connection to Dubai and the UAE.
The airline plans further expansion with the launch of flights to Pokhara on September 23rd—this will be its second destination in Nepal after Kathmandu.
Ghaith Al Ghait, CEO of flydubai, noted that the past few months have demonstrated the strength and flexibility of the airline's business model, as well as its confidence in Dubai's resilience. He emphasized that the carrier has focused on the safe and efficient restoration of its network while increasing capacity and opening new markets. He also acknowledged the close interaction within Dubai's aviation and tourism ecosystem and the leadership of the UAE.
Al Ghait added that customer confidence was reflected in the strong performance of recently launched routes and the demand observed during the summer, and that the airline is well-positioned for a full network recovery in the coming months.
Flydubai reported seeing promising future demand after the summer tourist season, and this momentum is expected to continue in winter as customers travel to Dubai and throughout the network for both leisure and visiting friends and relatives.
During the summer, the airline operated flights to 11 seasonal destinations, providing customers with direct access to popular Mediterranean and beyond holiday spots. Bodrum, Corfu, Mykonos, Santorini, and Tivat remained particularly sought after among travelers from the UAE, as well as passengers connecting through Dubai.
Customers also continue to benefit from the combined Emirates and flydubai network, which covers over 214 unique destinations in more than 100 countries and provides over 4,600 transfer opportunities through Dubai.
Hamad Obaidallah, Commercial Director of flydubai, expressed satisfaction with the positive tourist demand during the summer, especially on seasonal routes. He stated that the airline continues to increase the capacity of year-round services, including Almaty, Bishkek, and Tashkent. He also noted that Thailand remains a popular destination for both business and leisure travel, and the launch of three daily services to Bangkok in November reflects the growing momentum across the network.
Obaidallah specified that the airline currently operates an average of 2,200 weekly flights and aims to increase frequency as more aircraft are acquired. The main focus, however, remains on further network development and supporting the full recovery of operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB) to pre-disruption levels.
