In the United States, the price of diesel fuel has exceeded $6 per gallon for the first time in history, which is approximately $1.59 per liter. US President Donald Trump urged Volodymyr Zelensky to halt strikes against facilities related to diesel fuel production in Russia.
This was reported by RIA Novosti. Trump stated that the diesel fuel shortage is affecting the entire world. During a visit to Ireland, Trump addressed journalists, emphasizing the need for action from Zelensky.
He said: 'Zelensky must do one thing: stop striking facilities related to diesel fuel production in Russia. We discussed this with Zelensky. There are enough signs. Do not attack diesel fuel. It harms the whole world.'
According to the US head of state, the current global diesel fuel shortage is linked not to the situation in the Middle East, but to events occurring between Russia and Ukraine.
Earlier, at the end of July, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright noted that strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian oil refineries have become one of the factors influencing the volume of diesel fuel supplies globally. He added that the resulting disruptions are already reflected in world market prices.
Currently, the average price of diesel fuel in the US has exceeded $6 per gallon for the first time. Since one US gallon equals 3.785 liters, this is equivalent to approximately $1.59 per liter. The price of diesel fuel has risen by almost 60 percent since late February. Meanwhile, diesel fuel reserves in the US are at a level 13 percent below the five-year average.
On the global oil market, prices also remain high: Brent crude is trading above $100 per barrel, creating additional pressure on the refining and finished fuel markets.
