Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are working on creating a mechanism for mutual settlements using national QR codes. After the introduction of this system, citizens of Uzbekistan will be able to purchase goods and use services in Kazakhstan, and residents of Kazakhstan will have the opportunity to make similar payments during visits to Uzbekistan.
The signing of a memorandum of cooperation took place in Almaty between the payment system HUMO and the National Payment Corporation of Kazakhstan. The goal of the parties is to integrate the national QR infrastructures of both countries, which will allow transactions to be conducted through existing payment systems.
Furthermore, the launch of a direct money transfer service between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan is planned. This will allow users to transfer funds to bank cards in the neighboring country using their regular mobile banking applications. The exact start dates for these services have not been determined at this time.
Previously, questions arose among entrepreneurs and users regarding the functioning of the UzQR system, particularly concerning commission sizes.
