A new player is preparing to enter the Indian automotive market. Although such an event does not happen every year, two new companies may potentially emerge this year. The entry of JSW has been confirmed, and the brand has almost determined its first model. The second potential brand is Denza.
According to reports, BYD may bring the Denza brand to the Indian market. Cooperation between BYD and the Mercedes-Benz group began in 2010. Later, Mercedes-Benz exited this partnership, and BYD approved it as a brand for the high-end segment.
Denza vehicles in India will be positioned above BYD's current portfolio, meaning their price will start at 80 lakh rupees or more. BYD will release models in the price range of 20 to 80 lakh rupees, while Denza vehicles will occupy a higher segment.
According to Autocar India, the company plans to introduce two models: the Z9 GT and the D9 Luxury MPV. Both these cars will arrive in India as Complete Built Up Units (CBU).
The Denza Z9 GT is available globally in both electric and plug-in hybrid versions. However, in India, the company will launch this model exclusively in an electric configuration. The car weighs about 2.9 tons and is equipped with three electric motors, providing 1156 hp. The Z9 GT can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, and its top speed reaches 270 km/h. The claimed range is 600 kilometers, and in India, this model may start in the price range of 1.2 to 1.5 crore rupees.
As for the D9 MPV, it will compete with the Toyota Vellfire. In India, this car will appear in an electric front-wheel-drive version. Its price may be around 80 lakh rupees. The car is equipped with a 103 kWh battery and has a claimed range of 520 kilometers. The MPV configuration will be 2+2+3. It will be equipped with three-zone climate control, a premium audio system, and full leather upholstery. A folding table and retractable armrests are provided in the middle section of the cabin.
