Abhishek Sharma sets record as fastest Indian player to score 6000 runs in T20

The Indian team defeated Afghanistan by seven runs in the first match of the three-match T20I series. In this match, which took place at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday (September 14), Abhishek Sharma was the main hero.

The opening batsman Abhishek scored 82 runs off just 32 balls, hitting seven sixes and seven fours. Thanks to this powerful performance, the Indian team reached the target of 157 runs in only 13.4 overs.

During this impressive game, Abhishek Sharma set a significant record, becoming the fastest Indian player to reach 6000 runs in T20 cricket. He needed only 5 more runs to achieve this milestone. He reached this mark by hitting a six on the last ball of the first over against Fazlhaq Faruqi.

He scored 6000 T20 runs in 3420 balls. Previously, the record for the fastest 6000 T20 runs belonged to Finn Allen of New Zealand, who reached this mark in 3386 balls. Thus, Abhishek Sharma is only 34 balls behind this record. The list also includes Andre Russell from West Indies, who is third with 3550 balls, and Tim David, who scored 6000 runs in 3681 balls.

Abhishek Sharma debuted for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2018. In his debut match, he played an incomplete innings, scoring 46 runs off 19 balls. However, in the early years, he was not given many opportunities. In 2018 and 2019, he participated in three IPL matches each year. Then, in 2020 and 2021, he played in eight matches each season.

Later, in IPL 2024, Abhishek Sharma attracted everyone's attention with his explosive play. In that season, he scored 484 runs, which earned him a spot in the Indian team for the first time. In 2024, he debuted for India in a T20 International against Zimbabwe. After that, he became a permanent member of the team and was part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup in 2026.

In his T20 career, Abhishek Sharma has played 207 matches, scoring 6077 runs, including 9 centuries and 38 half-centuries. Given his aggressive playing style, he has the potential to set many major records in the coming years. Reaching the 10000 T20 run mark could be one of his main goals. Currently, Abhishek is known primarily as a T20 batsman; he has not yet secured a place in the Indian ODI team.

Abhishek Sharma last played a First-Class match in February 2024. He currently has an average of 30.60 and has scored 1071 runs in 24 First-Class matches. He is currently not in the Indian Test squad plans, while his status in limited-overs formats is constantly rising.

Ishan Kishan scores 80 runs in Duleep Trophy match, demonstrating strong play.

The captain of the East Zone team, Ishan Kishan, made a splash in the final match of the Duleep Trophy with his explosive performance, which caused tension among the players of the opposing team. After scoring a massive innings of 270 runs in the first innings, his form did not wane, and in the second innings, he once again attracted the attention of the fans with his aggressive playing style.

During the match, young player Vaibhav Suryavanshi was unable to perform brightly in the second innings, getting out after 8 runs off 16 balls. Meanwhile, captain Ishan Kishan took responsibility, stabilized the course of the innings, and, playing in an attacking style, put the team in a very strong position.

Ishan Kishan managed to score 80 runs, using 9 fours and three sixes, in just 98 balls. However, he could not complete his potential century as MD Nidish caught Devdhadh Patdikala.

Previously, in the first innings, Ishan Kishan also demonstrated outstanding play. He faced 334 balls, scoring 270 runs with the help of 30 fours and seven high sixes. After crossing the 250-run mark under the intense heat in Chennai, he was forced to take a break due to physical fatigue, but his determination did not waver. He returned to the field and played a decisive role in the team reaching a total score of 708 runs.

Thanks to the milestones of Kumar Kushagra and the support of the lower-order batsmen, East Zone exhausted the players of South Zone for a long time. After such a huge score in the first innings, Ishan Kishan once again showed his ability to score a century in the second innings, proving that he is in excellent form and capable of changing the course of the match single-handedly.

The film 'Hanuman ANSH' is currently generating significant interest in cinema screenings. The director and screenwriter of the film, Dr. Vishal Chaturvedi, expressed a desire for Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma to also watch this picture, especially after it was appreciated by Virender Sehwag.

The director noted that it would be a great joy for the entire crew if Virat and Anushka could see the film. It was particularly meaningful that Virender Sehwag watched 'Hanuman ANSH' with his child, without being part of the film crew, and shared his reaction on social media. For Chaturvedi, this moment was very emotional, as he has long been a big cricket fan of Sehwag.

Chaturvedi emphasized that Sehwag's approval was not just a celebrity review for him, but a kind of 'full circle life' moment. Now his focus is on Virat Kohli, and he hopes that Virat and Anushka can experience this spiritual story.

The film is also showing impressive box office results. Released on August 7, 2026, without a major marketing campaign or active promotion, 'Hanuman ANSH' achieved significant success through word-of-mouth. After four weeks in India, the film's total revenue reached 85.97 crore rupees. On the first day, the film earned 1 million rupees, and in the first week, it collected 1.08 crore rupees. In the second week, it earned 4 million rupees, but thanks to strong word-of-mouth, the income reached 10.40 crore rupees in the third week.

The film's story plans to go beyond the country. The creators announced that 'Hanuman ANSH' will be shown worldwide on September 11, 2026, allowing the international audience to get acquainted with the spiritual history of the Maharaj.

Furthermore, the director confirmed that the story of 'Hanuman ANSH' will continue, and a sequel will be released. The film is a spiritual drama inspired by the life and teachings of Nima Kauli Baba, whom fans affectionately call the Maharaj. Shobhanav Satya played the role of Nima Kauli Baba, and Vikhan Shedge portrays another stage of the Maharaj's life. The film also features actors such as Chandan Anand, Purmina Tiwari, Anil K. Rastogi, and Gulshan Pandey. This 2 hour 30 minute film, rated U, is considered successful due to people's deep faith in the Maharaj and great interest in his life. It remains to be seen what reaction the Sehwag couple, and subsequently Virat-Anushka, will have after watching 'Hanuman ANSH.'
